Get to know Bushwick

Stay on the L train past Williamsburg, and you’ll find yourself in dynamic Bushwick. An ever-evolving neighborhood, Bushwick was considered an industrial hub long before it became Brooklyn’s perceived capital of cool — but more than any label can indicate, it exudes a genuine sense of community. Most of its borders are well-established — Ridgewood, Queens to the northeast, Bedford-Stuyvesant across Broadway to the southwest — though others are more amorphous. Flushing Avenue forms the traditional East Williamsburg boundary, though many restaurants and residents across that line still consider themselves part of Bushwick. Simply put, Bushwick is a place where people want to be. Most residential streets are lined with row houses no more than three floors high, mingling with warehouse lofts, townhouses, or brownstones, depending on where you are. You’ll get a bird's-eye view of it all from the elevated M, J, and Z lines.
