True to its name, Green Hills is a lovely, verdant neighborhood that feels like a small town within the bigger city of Nashville—albeit a small town with a world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment scene. Green Hills really came into its own after World War II, when Nashvillians were looking for a leafy area to settle in that would still be close to downtown. The area’s appeal remains the same today, and you’ll find all styles of single-family homes here, as well as some luxury condominium buildings. Green Hills has long been a favorite destination for shopping as it is home to a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe’s, as well as The Mall at Green Hills, an upscale shopping center with an Apple Store and a Restoration Hardware. Green Hills also boasts two Nashville landmarks: the music venue Bluebird Café and Parnassus Books, co-founded by author Ann Patchett.
