    Germantown

Just north of Nashville’s downtown, Germantown is a fun, walkable neighborhood that’s chockablock with prize-winning restaurants, craft cocktail bars, and fashionable coffee shops. There’s a large canine population in Germantown; this is a neighborhood where residents love their dogs. Though Germantown feels absolutely of the moment, with the latest in dining trends always available (shaved ice cocktail, anyone?), this is actually one of the oldest parts of town. Take a stroll around this venerable community—it’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places—and you’ll discover Victorian buildings from the 1800s mixed in with the newer structures. One of Nashville’s earliest examples of a mixed-use neighborhood, Germantown primarily offers apartments and a small smattering of townhouses for residential use. Condo units here veer toward the slightly bohemian, with exposed brick walls and lofted bedroom nooks, whether they’re in historic conversions or newly built.
