Though located 30 minutes south of Nashville, Franklin is nobody’s suburb. The county seat of Williamson County, Franklin is a historic city with multiple flourishing industries and an abundance of charm. Franklin’s downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a Great American Main Street, with beautifully preserved Victorian buildings and a vibrant mix of businesses. This town loves celebrating and there’s a festival every month. Two local favorites are the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival, with big-name headliners, and Dickens of a Christmas, a re-creation of A Christmas Carol. There’s also the Factory, a set of former industrial buildings from 1929 that have been transformed into a commercial venue, where you’ll find vintage vinyl, art studios, live theater, cold-pressed juices, and artisanal jewelry. And every Saturday, there’s an enormously popular farmers market where people out in their Instagram-best buy the freshest produce direct from local farms.
