Bellevue

Bellevue started as a suburb, but it has come into its own and now proudly stands as a twin city to Seattle, rather than as a satellite. Bellevue, with its clout as a tech hub, serves as the nucleus of the Eastside: Amazon is expanding with plans to have 25,000 employees at its Bellevue campus, Meta has leased five buildings, and T-Mobile is headquartered here, along with branch offices of Salesforce and TikTok. Bellevue means “beautiful view” in French and it lives up to the name with stunning vistas everywhere, with Lake Washington on the west side and Lake Sammamish on the east side, plus the Olympic and Cascade mountains in the distance. One of Bellevue’s advantages is a very suburban one: free parking is easily found throughout. But the city is developing a pedestrian pathway called The Grand Connection that could be a harbinger of a changing future.
