Staniel Cay is a tiny jewel of an island—about two square miles big, with about 100 full-time residents—and one of the 365 islands in the Exuma Cays chain. The island is mostly residential and certainly less commercial than Nassau, though it does have a yacht club, which also serves as a local hotel and restaurant, as well as a smattering of stores and a post office. Many residents and visitors use Staniel Cay as a base to explore the other Exuma islands. NASA astronauts described the Exuma Cays as the most beautiful place on Earth from space and even on land, its bright white beaches surrounded by sapphire blue waters stun with their beauty. From Staniel Cay, you can hop over to Big Major Cay to swim with the feral pigs or snorkel in the Thunderball Grotto, where they filmed two Bond movies, Thunderball and Never Say Never Again.
