Get to Know Northeast Portland

Northeast Portland is the largest of the city’s four quadrants and is home to Portland International Airport, as well as Portland’s biggest venues — Moda Center, Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and the Oregon Convention Center — which host the city’s major sporting events and concerts. Despite being home to these large arenas in the Lloyd District, Northeast Portland has plenty of serene, walkable residential neighborhoods as well, including Alameda, Grant Park, Irvington, Sabin, Hollywood, Concordia, and the Alberta Arts District. Alberta Street displays its artistic bona fides with street murals on every corner, multiple art galleries, and a bookstore specializing in fine art monographs. And you’ll find some of Portland’s loveliest homes here, with historic Tudors and Craftsman houses dotting the tree-lined streets. Children’s author Beverly Cleary grew up in Northeast Portland, and there’s a sculpture garden in her honor, with statues of Ramona Quinby, Henry Huggins, and Ribsy the dog.

Portland is a city that’s almost close to perfect, an astonishingly beautiful and lush destination that has an incredibly well-defined sense of self. Portland residents are a welcoming bunch and pride themselves on their community spirit, with each neighborhood serving as its own little local village.
