Southwest Portland showcases two different facets of Portland’s personality within one district, as it comprises both busy Downtown Portland and a large area of quiet residential neighborhoods. Downtown Portland is compact and walkable, and home to Portland State University, the Portland Art Museum, and the city’s theater district. Downtown is also an easy spot for Southwest residents to pop by for date night or a day of shopping, with its many popular restaurants and Pioneer Place, Portland’s main shopping mall. In the residential neighborhoods, which include Portland Heights, Healy Heights, Maplewood, and Multnomah Village, you’ll find leafy, suburban-style hamlets, boasting spacious houses, large gardens, and few sidewalks, and dotted with plenty of craft breweries, cafes, and independent boutiques. Many of the houses, especially the ones set high in the hills, have sweeping, panoramic views of the sylvan surroundings, and range from picturesque bungalows to sprawling historic estates.

Living in Portland, OR

Portland is a city that’s almost close to perfect, an astonishingly beautiful and lush destination that has an incredibly well-defined sense of self. Portland also has a strong advertising agency scene, where creatives compete for Nike and Adidas accounts, as both rival shoe companies are headquartered in the region.
