Hobe Sound Commerce & Culture
Hobe Sound’s restaurants may not necessarily be white-tablecloth establishments, but they do serve up delectably fresh meals in friendly atmospheres. There are a few local businesses in town — primarily spots to pick up the basics — but any substantial shopping or entertainment will have to take place in Jupiter or Stewart. Luckily, those towns are but mere minutes away. If you’re aching for a more metropolitan motif, the Palm Beaches are only a bit farther south, with Miami also an easy drive. However, stick with Hobe Sound to experience Florida nature at its finest. Blowing Rocks Preserve is a limestone monolith where you’ll see breaking waves spray water toward the sky. The Loxahatchee River is a designated National Wild and Scenic River; kayakers come from all over to paddle along it through prehistoric forests. A lot sparkles along the Treasure Coast, but Hobe Sound is the true hidden gem.
