Get to Know Autumn Hall

Autumn Hall is a master-planned community in Wilmington’s Eastwood Road/University area that offers the all the benefits of a close-knit small town, while remaining close to downtown and the nearby beaches. Before its development in 2009, Autumn Hall’s 236 acres were a multi-generational gathering place for the Trask family. The Trasks held an annual oyster roast each autumn, an event that became the inspiration for the development’s name. Eventually, the family decided to transform the land into a mixed-use community, offering a lifestyle that reflects the best of the Cape Fear region, with a lake, eight parks, a community pool, a town center, and a solid stretch of the city’s Gary Shell Cross-City Trail System for pedestrian and cyclists within its borders. The houses’ architecture has been designed to reflect the area’s Southern heritage, with deep porches, wrought-iron railings, and outdoor rooms with fireplaces.

The Wilmington metropolitan area, which comprises New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender Counties, also includes three nearby island beach towns: Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, and Kure Beach. Wilmington has an unusual mix of lifestyles — it’s home to UNC Wilmington, so it’s a college town, but it’s also a beach destination and a major city at the same time. And thanks to its cinematic good looks, Wilmington has long had a thriving film industry, serving as the backdrop to tons of movies and television shows for everything from Dawson’s Creek to Weekend at Bernie’s. Moving to Wilmington can mean living in a country club-style community, a beach retreat on a private island, or in a historic house downtown — all three picks are quintessential Wilmington options, as varied and delightful as the city itself.
