THE CORCORAN GROUP EXPANDS ITS PRESENCE IN THE HAMPTONS

Dayton-Halstead Joins New York City’s Real Estate Leader

NEW YORK, NY - MARCH 16, 2004 -- The Corcoran Group, New York City’s renowned residential real estate brokerage company, today announced that it has acquired Dayton/Halstead L.L.C. in East Hampton, N.Y. The announcement follows on the heels of Corcoran’s simultaneous acquisitions in October 2003 of Cook Pony Farm Real Estate in East Hampton, and Paulette Koch Real Estate in Palm Beach, Fla.

Pamela Liebman, president and chief executive officer for The Corcoran Group, will continue in her role overseeing operations in New York City, the Hamptons and Palm Beach. Melanie Ross will continue her role as regional vice president for The Corcoran Group in the Hamptons. Diane Saatchi, president of Dayton-Halstead, will become vice president of sales for The Corcoran Group in the Hamptons.

“We’re proud to welcome Diane Saatchi and her fine team of real estate professionals to The Corcoran Group,” said Liebman. “I believe this is an excellent match because both companies share the same high level of dedication and commitment to delivering exceptional real estate experiences for clients. This move strengthens our presence on Long Island’s East End where Dayton-Halstead’s impressive track record in the luxury home market speaks for itself.”

Dayton-Halstead is known particularly for its strong heritage in serving the real estate needs of the Hamptons and neighboring communities since 1906. The company markets a wide range of properties that includes primary homes, summer cottages, oceanfront mansions, commercial properties and undeveloped acreage. Dayton-Halstead’s 44 agents in three offices in East Hampton, Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor, N.Y., accounted for a total closed sales volume of $133 million in 2003.

With this announcement, The Corcoran Group has nearly 200 sales associates in 13 offices in the Hamptons, Shelter Island and the North Fork. In total, The Corcoran Group has more than 1,100 sales associates in 23 offices that also include Manhattan, Brooklyn and Palm Beach. In 2003, the combined organization accounted for more than $5.3 billion in total closed sales volume.

“We are joining forces to bring the strongest local real estate experience together under one organization,” Saatchi said. “This is an excellent merger for us because, as part of The Corcoran Group, we will offer more opportunities for our sales associates while expanding our service areas and professional expertise for home buyers and sellers in the Hamptons, New York City and Palm Beach.”
