Another North Fork vineyard has hit the market.

Schneider Vineyards' 21.4-acre property in Riverhead, is being shopped by the Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage. The asking price is $1.65 million.

Bruce Schneider and his wife, Christiane Baker Schneider, who founded their wine label in 1994 and who are both now 34, bought the property, the former Ziknick potato farm, in February, 2002, for about $433,000, according to property records. Rights to develop all but 4.4 acres have been sold off, so any owner would have to leave most of the property undeveloped as open space.

But the sale doesn't mean the Schneiders are giving up on wine.

"Their investor group is going to move on," said Gerald Cantini, a broker in Corcoran's Bridgehampton office, who is handling the sale.

The Schneiders were on vacation yesterday and couldn't be reached for comment, but people knowledgeable about their plans said the couple now is involved in a new vineyard in Mattituck.

The property being sold includes a 2,880-square-foot potato barn and 14.5 acres of vineyards, densely planted with
Bordeaux red grapes. The vineyard, the westernmost on the North Fork, is at 2248 Roanoke Ave., near Sound Avenue.

Schneider is the second
East End wine property to come to market in recent months. Macari Vineyards in Mattituck, is seeking to sell its winery, tasting room and 39.5 surrounding acres - 20 of them planted in vines. The Macaris are asking $9.5 million.

Meanwhile, another winery, Bidwell Vineyards, in Cutchogue, which has been marketed for several years, is being sold to Paul, Rose and Joseph Pipia. It will be renamed Joseph Paul Winery, according to a state Liquor Authority license application filed last week. The Pipias operate a truck-rental agency. They could not be reached for comment.
