His Own Spielburb
Sources say that the Oscar-winning director and producer is negotiating to buy two properties that are close in proximity to his Georgica Pond spread. The properties would add an additional 6 acres to his already substantial compound.
The first place he's close to buying is the home of long-deceased Connecticut publisher Lionel Jackson, which includes a pond-fronting six-bedroom shingled house on Apaquogue Road with a guest house on 3 acres. It has a $19.95 million asking price.
Almost every big-name real-estate firm on the East End, including Brown Harris Stevens, the Corcoran Group and Prudential Douglas Elliman, are listing the property.
Meanwhile, informed brokerage sources say that trustees of Arthur Ross, the late investment banker and Central Park Conservancy co-founder, are in talks to sell Spielberg his 3-acre property, also on Apaquogue Road, for an undisclosed price.
Ross had another property on Old Cove Farm Road; how this will be disposed of is unclear.
Perhaps less prodigious producer Nora Ephron, who lives right across the street from Spielberg - and who rented her home last August to ex-porn star Heather Mills - might want to stick a "for sale" sign on her lawn to see if the "Jaws" director bites.
