George, Frayda Lindemann sell Blossom Way home; price rumored to be between $70 and $80 million

Real estate crisis, you say? Not so in Palm Beach, where seaside mansions on or adjacent to the stretch of South Ocean Boulevard referred to as Billionaire's Row are selling for astronomical sums.

 

The oceanfront Balinese-style residence of George and Frayda Lindemann at 60 Blossom Way has been scooped up at a hefty price, rumored to be in the $70 to $80 million range.

 

And the house was never even on the market.

 

"A Realtor approached us with an offer," Frayda Lindemann said Monday.

 

The broker she referred to is Lawrence A. Moens, who confirmed his involvement in the deal along with another island broker who represented the buyer. Real-estate sources identified Cristina Condon of Sotheby's International Realty as the buyer's broker.

 

Lindemann and her husband, George, finished building the 27,000-square-foot, Peter Marino-designed house in 2000. George Lindemann is a Forbes 400-listed billionaire entrepreneur and major art collector.

 

Neither Lindemann nor Moens would reveal the identity of the buyer or the negotiated sale price.

 

Lindemann did say that the transaction is expected to close around June 1.

 

The offer was obviously one the Lindemanns could not refuse.

 

"We will not be selling the contents of the house," she said. "And we plan to stay in Palm Beach."

 

The Lindemanns are looking to get something smaller than their current quarters.

 

"We'll probably look a little further north and stay on the ocean, if we can," she said.

 

The 60 Blossom Way house is positioned on a 3.7-acre lot with 320 feet of ocean frontage.

 

News of the Lindemann house sale comes close on the heels of the reported $75-million-plus deal for the Sidney Kimmel house, the immediate neighbor to the north of the 60 Blossom Way property.

 

The Kimmel property, however, had been listed by Paulette and Dana Koch of The Corcoran Group, with several bidders vying for it. The sale price and the purchaser remain confidential.
