Boynton Beach may be relatively quiet compared to elsewhere in Palm Beach County, but it still finds ways to make some noise. Whether you’re kayaking or basking in the sun’s eternal glow, there are few better places to do so than here. The city’s birth and blossoming tell a familiar South Florida story. Visitors experienced a bit of what gives the Sunshine State its nickname and became too enamored to leave it behind; the city’s namesake did precisely that. Nathan Boynton, a Union Army Major from Michigan, got one taste of the climate and had to stay in it, constructing a hotel atop an oceanfront bluff in what is now Ocean Ridge. And with the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean to its east — not to mention the manifold canals and lakes that many houses sit beside — Boynton Beach is beyond perfect for those who love life on the water.
